Colgan's Taffy-Tolu

National Vending Machine Co., Chicago, IL, c. 1902, 14". This is an early 1900s gum vendor. It's of the same era as the Mansfield, but has a completely different internal design and is much scarcer.

The Taffy-Tolu is a 2-column vendor powered by a clockwork mechanism. It dispenses one stick of gum from alternating columns, and with every fifth penny dispenses one stick from both. According to Silent Salesmen Too, another version of this machine dispenses one stick per penny with no fifth penny bonus, and that version is 'considerably rarer' than the version pictured above.

This is the nicest example I've seen. It's 100% original except for perhaps one nut that's the right style but looks newer than the others do.
