New Era Vendor

Penny King, Detroit, MI, c. 1930's or 1940's, 13 1/2". This is a relatively plain 3-compartment vendor made of cast aluminum. To my knowledge only one example is known to exist, although Silent Salesmen Too mentions another version with only 2 compartments. The above example is 100% original; could it be a prototype? Perhaps.

An unusual feature of this machine is that the penny is inserted into the hole in the middle of each knob, after which you turn the knob clockwise to dispense the product. The gates are attached to pivets at the top and swing right or left to release the product.
