Bally 3-reel trade stimulator

Bally, c. 1920s or '30s. This isn't my style of machine, but it was in a collection I bought in around 2006 and I didn't want to waste the opportunity to post it here for your viewing pleasure. It's not a vendor, it's a trade stimulator---basically a miniature slot machine. The reels show packs of cigarettes, and if the right ones line up after you insert a penny and pull the slide down, you can win packs of cigarettes according to the award card on the front. You don't get any gum, though, so this is a pure gambler and not a disguised gambler as are many vendors/games-of-chance such as the Ad-Lee E-Z and the Nick. I sold this before I measured the height, but it's just a tiny thing, only about 6 inches tall if my memory can judge it correctly. It's a cute little machine.

The example above is 100% original. As I update this page in November 2021 I look at the machine's picture and think why the hell did I sell this?! Then I remember that it doesn't vend anything, it has a cigarette theme and I hate cigarettes, and I have enough vendors to fill my space, and think oh yeah, that's why. It's a cute little machine, though, and if my collection priorities were based just on cuteness then I'd still have it.
